Reasons for using the internet Ukraine

In Ukraine, the internet is most often used for instant messaging, with 71 percent of respondents to a 2020 survey stating that they regularly use the internet to send messages. Other common online activities include searching for information and visting social networking sites. The share of Ukrainians shopping online also significantly increased over the last five years.

Respondents were asked: "What for do you use internet regularly?".

According to the source the overalll sample size was approximately 4,000 per wave, out of which 300 interviews were in 12 regions: Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, Mykolayiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson. Respresentative part was 1,630 interviews per wave.

* Fieldwork was conducted in waves annually in May and June from 2015 to 2018, June to July in 2019, and July to August 2020.
