Frequency of non-smokers visiting pachinko parlors with smoking bans in Japan 2018
A survey conducted between November and December 2018 in Japan revealed that the majority of non-smoking pachinko players, almost 67 percent, would not change the frequency of their visits to parlors, if establishments were to implement a smoking ban. That year, the Japanese government enforced stricter laws on smoking in public areas in light of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, with intentions of extending a smoking ban to pachinko parlors.
