Mexico: public opinion on necessary measures to avoid COVID-19 spread 2020
perceived risk of getting infected with the coronavirus, officially known as SARS-CoV-2, has been increasing in Mexico as the outbreak develops. On February 28, 2020, Mexico confirmed the first cases of COVID-19 in the country. According to a survey, as of the third week of March, 2020, 91.1 percent of respondents considered that cancelling concerts, festivals and similar events was necessary to contain the spread of the disease. Cancelling sports events, closing schools, and forbidding personal celebrations such as weddings were also considered as appropriate measures to mitigate transmission by more than 80 percent of respondents.
