Non-communicable diseases in Vietnam
A non-communicable disease (NCD), also known as a chronic disease, tends to be for the long-term and it is not transmissible directly from one person to another. Rather, it is caused by a combination of genetic, physiological, environmental and behavioral factors. Cardiovascular diseases include heart attacks and stroke. In Vietnam, risk factors include hypertension, high tobacco use and a high salt intake.
Communicable diseases in Vietnam
A communicable disease is one that spreads from one person to another through a variety of ways. In Vietnam, respiratory infections, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS were the leading communicable diseases in 2017. However, the incidence rate for tuberculosis has declined and the incidence rate for HIV has decreased as well in the past years.
