Credit card ownership in Libya 2024, by gender
Around 10 percent of the adults in Libya owned a credit card as of January 2024. The credit card penetration rate reached nearly 15 percent among males, while it was considerably lower among females. In the country, only around five women out of 100 owned a credit card as of the same period. Furthermore, the penetration rate of payment cards in the country is extremely low, especially when compared to the banking penetration. Nearly 66 percent of the population had an account with a financial institution in 2024.
