Physical or sexual violence against women in Africa 2018
According to the latest data, as of 2018, gender-based violence against girls and women was higher in Sub-Saharan Africa than in the Northern African region. Over one-fifth of girls and women were subject to physical or sexual violence by current or former partners in Sub-Saharan Africa. In North Africa, the share stood at nearly 15 percent. Both regions stood above the world average of 12.5 percent.
