The minimum energy requirement for persons in the United States in 2021 was 1,950 kilocalories per day. This is the societal average necessary for a person to live at a minimal BMI and be able to engage in low physical activities. In China it was 1,882 kilocalories per person per day. Depending on the age and gender structure of the population the minimum energy requirements can vary.
