Distribution of ransomware attacks on organizations in Europe 2021-2022, by industry
In 2022, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Europe encountered 40 percent of detected significant ransomware attacks, down from 51 percent in the year prior. The offices of local authorities ranked second by the share of major ransomware incidents reported, with almost a quarter of ransomware cases targeting them in 2022. Meanwhile, the figures are not based on the overall number of ransomware attacks in the region.
