GHG emissions from wildfires in Panama 2001-2022
Wildfires in Panama generated 2.5 thousand metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (ktCO₂e) in 2022. This was a decrease of 45.8 percent from the previous year. In 2022, seven hectares of tree cover were lost in Panama due to wildfires. Between 2001 and 2022, the highest GHG emissions attributable to wildfires occurred in 2011, at nearly 32 ktCO₂e.
