Secondhand smoke exposure among U.S. nonsmokers 1988-2012
This statistic depicts the presence of cotinine in the systems of U.S. nonsmokers in periods between 1988 and 2012. Cotinine creation within nonsmokers has been proven to be the result of secondhand smoke exposure. As can be seen, the percentage of nonsmokers with cotinine has steadily decreased, mostly due to the growing number of laws that ban smoking in public places.
