Annual household expenditure on alcoholic beverages in Canada 2010-2017
Canadian alcohol preferences
According to a recent survey which asked Canadian adults which types of alcohol they prefer to drink , wine was stated by 50 percent of respondents as one of their top three choices. Domestic and imported beer ranked in second and third places, with a 31 and 24 percent share of the vote respectively. Canadian consumers’ love of the fermented grape beverage has no doubt contributed to its growing retail sales. In 2018, sales of wine amounted to approximately 10.62 billion U.S. dollars in Canada and are forecast to reach around 13.23 billion dollars by 2022.
Consumption frequency
Canadians living in Quebec claimed to drink alcohol most frequently out of all provinces in a 2018 survey. Some 57 percent of Quebecois stated that they drank alcohol at least once per week, compared to 28 percent of consumers living in Atlantic Canada.
