G20: distribution of income by country 2021

Of the G20 countries included, Brazil had the highest share of income being earned by the richest 20 percent of the population at 57.5 percent of total income in 2021. Mexico followed by 51.7 percent of the country's total income being earned by the wealthiest 20 percent. On the other hand, less than 40 percent of the income in France was earned by the richest 20 percent.

The G20 is an international organization whose permanent members are 19 countries and the European Union. Data for the European Union has been excluded due to overlap with G20 members France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom.

Data for income distribution is pooled by the World Bank from national data. Therefore, not all percentage breakdowns are sourced from the same survey period.

Figures may not sum to 100 percent due to rounding.
