Italy: average daily number of journeys by main mode of transport 2016
This statistic illustrates the average number of journeys made by the Italian population who traveled on an average weekday in 2016, broken down by mode of transport. According to data, people who chose motorized private transport made on average 2.45 trips per day by car or motorbike and only 0.05 trips per day by urban public transport. By contrast, people whose main mean of transport on the average weekday was long-distance public transport (train and coach) showed a more marked tendency to use other means of transport as well: for every trip they made by train, 0.7 trips were made by motorbike.
