Weekly MOEX performance Russia 2020-2023
The MOEX index, the most prominent ruble-denominated index of stocks listed on the Moscow Stock Exchange, lost around one quarter of its value between February 16 and March 8, 2020, owing to the economic impact of the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It has since recovered, surpassing its pre-corona level in November 2020.
The MOEX index is considered the primary index for domestic investors in Russia. It contains the same components as the RTS index, however the latter is denominated in U.S. dollars and therefore preferred by many international investors.
