Fish production in Egypt 2014-2020, by source
The majority of the fish production in Egypt came from fishery cultivation (i.e., farms, canals, drainages, and rice fields). As of 2020, almost 1.59 million metric tons of fish were cultivated in the country. Northern lakes and Marine fishing followed, with significantly lower volumes at around 200,000 and 101,000 metric tons. Overall, fish production in the country increased annually in the period observed, except in 2020, when it dropped by around 28,000 metric tons.
