Shell regularly generates revenues exceeding 300 billion U.S. dollars, making it one of the largest companies within the energy sector. As of 2023, the largest share of Shell’s revenue came from activities in Europe and Asia.
Shell increases dividends pay-out
Since the financially turbulent start to the decade, Shell has begun increasing its dividend pay-outs. Between 2021 and 2023, the value of dividends paid grew by roughly one fourth, reaching 8.39 billion U.S. dollars in 2023. Shell is not the only company within the sector to have increased its dividends pay-out. In recent years, distribution of oil and gas companies' cash spending has skewed toward dividends and debt repayment.
