Passenger volume at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in the Netherlands by region 2021
Schiphol Group
Schiphol Group is 100 percent shareholder of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and two other Dutch airports. This group is for 70 percent owned by the Dutch Ministry of Finance. The revenue of Schiphol Group amounted to only 816 million euros in 2021. 50 percent of the revenue was generated by aviation, and 38.8 percent by commercial services.
Relocating Schiphol to the North Sea
To prevent sound nuisance, create space for other projects and decrease traffic to Amsterdam Airport, the discussion to move Schiphol to the North Sea opened again in 2018. From a survey conducted on aviation in the Netherlands in 2018, respondents were asked what their thoughts were on moving or extending Schiphol to an island on the North Sea. Roughly 25 percent of the respondents were against such a measure, whereas over 40 percent were positive about relocating Schiphol Airport.
